What are the two types of SEO?

There are two major types of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). If you are thinking to develop a website or have developed, you need to keep these steps in your mind so that you can easily achieve the desired results. By applying the SEO actually you are doing the basics of your website success and its search engine ranking.

These steps are name as:

2-      Off-Site SEO

1. On-Site SEO

On-Site SEO can be defined as to take some steps to optimize the website code: to make it clean and search engine friendly, so that a search engine like Bing, Google, Yahoo can understand and identify what the website of yours is all about and index the content properly.

  • Keywords Establishment:
The 1st step towards On-Site SEO (On-Site Optimization) is to choose proper keywords for your website content, so a searcher can easily find his required data or content by typing these keywords in a search engine like Bing, Google, and Yahoo.

  • Title Tag:
We can define title tag as heading of the page. Title tag defines the title of a document, it is required by all documents either it is HTML or XHTML. Now it is very important for us to know that what should be the length of our title tag. Title tag must be between 6-12 words (with 6 as minimum and 12 as maximum). The maximum length of title should be 66 characters including spaces. Google will not read any character after 66 characters including spaces.
Choosing a proper title tag is also very important in On-Site SEO. All search engines give much importance to title tag because through your title tag they determine what your site is all about. So it is essential for you to choose proper keywords for your title tag.

  • Heading tag:
Heading tags are also much important part of On-Site SEO as all the search engine consider it highly important and decides a keyword of website. H1, H2 tags makes the headings readable for a search engine. We must put our best keywords in h1, h2 tags.


  • Meta Description:
Meta description is also importance in search engine ranking as this is extremely important to get a user click through search engine. When we search from a keyword and search engines shows the results, it also show the description of the page so that user can get clear idea of the website.

  • Image Alt Attribute:
Another important step towards good On-Site SEO is you must add a simple and meaningful description to the image, you upload to your site because a search engine need to identify the image (image belong to which category). So it is a good practice to mention your primary keywords in image alt tag.


  • Keyword Tag
In meta tags, keyword tag is also have some importance. Previously it was supposed to be most important tag in <header> section of a website html code. But now many experts consider that not much important as h1, h2 tags and img alt tag get more importance for search engine rankings. Well, in keyword tag you have to mention about all the keywords related to you page, separated by commas.

This type of SEO is defined as any activity done to optimize a website indirectly. Off-Site SEO includes anything that is not a part of your own website but affecting your website’s rank.
